December Meeting

The December meeting was given over to our Xmas bash.

Members brought along coins for sale and there were two displays including:

·         Gavin had two acquisitions for 2015, a fake 8 Reales and a countermarked Victorian halfpenny.

·         Brian had brought a 1914 penny that had been converted into a ring.

A further display was waiting in the main part of the Church, where there was a set of decorated Xmas trees, one for each of the groups who use the Church. Val had decorated the one for the Coin Club, a splendid example, with several coin related baubles.

After a time for the usual dealing and bargaining we were treated to a buffet, prepared by Mick, including quiches amongst the usual suspects (Mince pies, cheese and grape etc.). Next came the notoriously difficult Gavin quiz. Answers will be provided in next Month’s newsletter for those of you not lucky enough to have attended the meeting. Questions are given below. The winner was Michael who managed to get 10 ˝ questions right!

Xmas Dinner

The December dinner was a return to the Cunning Man where 22 members and partners enjoyed a sumptuous meal, accompanied by fine wines and plenty of entertaining conversation. Well done to Peter for organizing such an excellent event - I wager we’ll be returning there next year.
